Written by: Duke University Medical Center's Division of Orthopedic Surgery and Data Trace Internet Publishing, LLC.

The original text for much of this website, Wheeless’ Textbook of Orthopaedics, was written by Clifford R. Wheeless, III, MD. He continues to be involved with this project as the Editor-in-Chief. James A. Nunley, II, MD and James R. Urbaniak, MD are also contributing to this online resource for orthopaedists as Managing Editors.

This online textbook has been expanded to over 11,000 pages and over 5,000 images. They claim to be the “most comprehensive, unparalleled, dynamic online medical textbook in existence.” It was written for students, educators, practicing orthopaedists and patients.

It is offered by the Duke University Medical Center’s Division of Orthopedic Surgery and Data Trace Internet Publishing, LLC. It is set up more like a website than a textbook with easy to navigate menus and fully searchable by alphabetical, anatomical and keyword phrases.
