The Petrology of Sedimentary Rocks

Written by: R.L. Folk (University of Texas at Austin)

This online textbook, written by R.L. Folk, Professor Emeritus Dept. of Geological Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin, is of an out-of-print sedimentary petrology textbook. The author identifies this body of work as lecture notes which appear to have been written in the 1950s and 1960s. But, I did look it over and it reads more like a textbook than most of the lecture notes that I have seen. The original typeface used in the text does not scan well. The low-resolution version is readable but I would not recommend it for extended reading.

If the University of Texas has taken the time and effort to obtain permission to share this textbook from 1980, I hope it still has some value for geology students who visit The Free Textbook List.
