Since 1899, Merck has been publishing guides for medical practitioners. Go to any physicians office and you are likely to see a bound copy of The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy. I’ve been to some where a copy was placed in every examining room. I was truly surprised when I discovered that Merck is making the information from that text available freely online.
The manual is designed for medical professionals and should not be used for self-diagnosis. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, gotta get that disclaimer stuff in place.) I would also think it would be an invaluable resource for medical school students, interns and residents.
