Shippensburg University is one of those great institutions who don’t delete the online materials created by their staff once they retire. We are fortunate that they have such a wonderful philosophy. Dr. George Boeree, professor emeritus of the Psychology Department of Shippensburg University, wrote several textbooks including this one on social psychology.
Boeree admits that the theories that form the basis of social psychology are many and varied. There is no definitive standard. He explains that his text will give all of us “something in the meantime” that will help students gain an understanding of this field of study before, or if, that consensus is ever formed.
When I looked through this social psychology textbooks, it was quite charming. Examples included chess pieces, name-calling (blockhead and prune-face) and other approachable ways to present the information. The textbook is offered for both English-speaking and German-speaking students.
