The author of this knowledge base sees the research process much the same as taking a road trip or journey with a number of points at which you must stop along the way. In creating the Research Methods Knowledge Base, William M.K. Trochim hopes to create a text that “covers the entire research process including: formulating research questions; sampling (probability and nonprobability); measurement (surveys, scaling, qualitative, unobtrusive); research design (experimental and quasi-experimental); data analysis; and, writing the research paper.”
Trochim is a Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell University. He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels in applied social research methods since 1980. His text is suitable for undergraduate and graduate level research methods courses.
Topics are fully hyperlinked to allow students at all levels to use the text as a sourcebook or refresher. Printed copies are offered for sale.
