An online philosophy textbook written by Philip A. Pecorino, Ph.D. and Professor of Philosophy at Queensborough Community College.
Dr. Pecorino hopes to introduce students to “what Philosophy is, what the issues have been and continue to be, and how those perennial questions are as alive today as ever and have a relevance for the lives of every thinking human being. At the same time it is hoped that the manner in which this is approached will be engaging, interesting, a bit entertaining and rewarding!”
In the final section of the preface, Dr. Pecorino explains that he defies conventional thinking of some in his field and hopes that his work will make students think. And, to his way of thinking, making students think means they have succeeded in actually learning something.
