Authors James F. Courtney, David B. Paradice, Kristen L. Brewer and Julia C. Graham have generously made their textbook freely available to students working on a computer science degree. They published it in 2010 and offer it as a free downloadable PDF file.
Database systems, according to the author, need to “provide managers with information so that they can make effective decisions about how to run the organization.” Students will learn how to design and manage effective database systems. The authors have put a great deal of focus on the usability of well-designed database systems and end each chapter with a section called “The User’s View” which discusses the “concerns of users as related to that chapter’s topics.”
