Free Accounting Textbooks

Accounting is defined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as “the art of recording, classifying, and summarizing in a significant manner and in terms of money, transactions and events which are, in part at least, of financial character, and interpreting the results thereof.”

Accountancy is defined as the profession or duties of an accountant.

Like so many subjects in most university business department disciplines, accounting is one of those courses that often require extremely highly priced textbooks. Granted, most of the books are good for more than one semester, accounting textbooks are typically both weighty and pricey.

I wish I had more resources to offer in this category and I hope to continue adding more free online accounting textbooks to help students find alternatives. For now, hopefully, one of the books listed will be the exact book you are looking for or serve as a great supplementary text for your assigned accounting textbook.
