The author of this fun and clever site full of accounting and bookkeeping tutorials, David W. Marshall has been offering business consulting and bookkeeping services for over 20 years. He has been an auditor, controller and worked in payroll. He has done some teaching in a classroom but the body of his knowledge comes from working in the field.
Unlike the other accounting textbooks featured on The Free Textbook List, Marshall’s efforts seem to be a series of tutorials for folks who did not study accounting at college and suddenly find themselves needing those skills to perform their jobs. From the glowing testimonials, his work also seems like a great option for students having trouble in their accounting and bookkeeping courses due to dry textbooks or uninspiring teachers. (I’ve not formally studied accounting but when I tried to create my own crash course for a project I was working on – the accounting textbooks I found proved to be extremely difficult to use for self-study.)
The site includes an e-course, games and review quizzes. There’s also a large library of resources.
